I believe her name gives it away. In the beginning, we could not come close to her without her spitting and hissing like a wild tiger. She has come a long way from the beginning.
We are positive she came from the same place as the others but left to go to a house up a hill behind us. Cats will leave to find a better food supply and living conditions.
In 2005 we had built a four-season back porch. We enjoyed it for the first fall, winter and in spring of 2006. There was a stray cat, that was mostly white that kept coming around. So, we started feeding her. Then we noticed in the spring she was starting to get fat. And for five weeks we didn’t see her. One evening I looked out the patio doors. I yelled, “Tim!” “We have a problem!” There was Hissey with the cutest kitten. He was so tiny. Tim could pick him up with two fingers. She stayed for hours with us and then left. Later that day she brought another little kitten. Hissey continued this until she had brought a total of four kittens. We fell in love! That was in June of 2006.
The first time the kittens went on one of their adventures in the big world. They were running here and hiding there. When they decided to get brave, they would come out of their hiding place. As they ran out, a lot of birds flew over them. They looked up at the sky in total fear, then took off running for shelter to hide. That was their first experience of things above them in this big world. It was so much fun watching them grow and learn about new things. As they grew it was getting harder to keep them close to the house. On Dec 2, 2006, all the cats decided to wander off. I kept calling until they all came back but one. Denozo had been hit on the road. That was our first tragedy, and our hearts were broken.
Hissey has grown into such a lovable cat. She gets on top of the refrigerator. With me being short, she will lay there and just look down at me with her eyes moving back and forth.
Her fur is so soft, you would think you were petting a rabbit.
